Located just two hours northwest of San Antonio in Bandera, Texas is a natural gem: Lost Maples State Natural Area. Designated as a National Natural Landmark, Lost Maples is an awe-inspiring mix of limestone cliffs, canyons, woods and several crystal clear streams. What really sets Lost Maples apart, however, is its unusually high density of bigtooth maples, for which it is named. These maples put on an amazing color show each fall, attracting thousands of visitors from around the state. Peak viewing time is typically late October through November.
