The Texas wine industry is making a name for itself. The Lone Star State is no longer just about BBQ and football; we’ve added winemaking to our list of talents. With around 350 wineries all over the state, Texas has become the 5th largest wine producing region in the nation. Due to unique climate and elevation, Texas is able to grow grapes that you won’t find at your average vineyard. What makes Texas wine so unique is the creativity and originality of the winemakers.
The three top wine producing areas in the state are Fredericksburg, Lubbock, and Grapevine. A majority of the wineries reside in the Hill Country surrounding the city of Fredericksburg. This location has become a tourist hot spot with their numerous wineries and a rich history.
Grapevine serves up an urban wine tasting experiences with all of their wineries residing within city limits, while Lubbock is famous for their risky blends and groundbreaking creations. These cities are recognized for original wines such as Homestead Winery of Grapevine’s Chocolate Rose. Lubbock is also home to the largest and best-selling winery, Llano Estacado Winery.
